Mobility and pedestrian-oriented neighborhoods are important to the residents of Fort Worth. The Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) meets these challenges by maintaining:
- 7518 lane miles of street surface
- 2551 miles of sidewalks
- 300 miles of engineered drainage channels
- 883 traffic signals
- 66,000 street lights
- 206 rail crossingsM
- 30,000 storm drains/inlets
As important are future roadways and current performance conditions of the roadway system. Staff routinely analyzes and recommends transit and roadway projects that will reduce congestion, improve air-quality and move traffic.
